Did I forget to tell you that I was taking a blog hiatus? Oh yeah, sorry about that. I was traveling and not able to get to a computer (lucky for me, not for you) until today, the day that I am officially back on the grid. Back to work and my daily routine, and hopefully more blogging for your enjoyment, dear Internet. But until a smorgasbord of design related posts hits you in the jugular, here is a wrap up of our holiday travels, James Joyce style. Hope you all had a fantastic holiday and a happy new year!
Hit the road running before Christmas, with a stop in Jax to hang with the bro, whom I hardly see because he is a slave to all things residency. Ate Mexican food. Love mexican food. Woke up to yummy pancakes and headed down to my parents house, where my mom greeted us with an exorbitant amount of sweets and booze. Score. Decided to not celebrate Christmas Day on Christmas Day and instead saw Up in the Air. Realized how fantastically great George Clooney is. Had a mini reunion with high school buddies and loved every minute. Enjoyed more snackies and booze. Greeted the whole fam the day after Christmas and finally had a gift opening explosion, many of which will be shared at a later date. Ate Scott’s famous ribs. Went into a food coma. Hung with my nephew, the cutest kid in all of existence (sorry, other kids).
Visited with old friends that live on other sides of the country. Went to the park to see a giant oak tree. Watched the Hangover and Ricky Gervais Live. More booze and more yummy treats. Played ping pong. Had a family eye check by mi padre. Woke up at 5am to the fire alarm going off and a smoking heater. Thanked sweet baby jesus that my parents’ house wasn’t on fire. Packed up our stuff and headed to Jax for a camping trip and more time with my bro and my sister-in-law.
Ate chili and my weight in marshmallows. Reveled in my burgeoning belly. Slept under the stars which eventually turned into rain. Lots of rain. Packed up camp and headed back into town, only to be greeted by beautiful weather.
Walked in the mud. Lots of mud. Attempted fishing and some light beer drinking. Played around with my new lens and enjoyed some short lived sunshine.
Did some much needed laundry of muddy camping clothes. Donned a festive New Years headband. Blew up a lot of fireworks and played some competitive flip cup where the girls team ruled all. Marveled at my sister-in-law’s ability to create awesome sparkler art. Took way too many pictures.
Played in a neighborhood park at 2:00am. Enjoyed Beatles rockband a bit too much. Woke up to pouring rain and trekked it out to see Bobby Bowden’s final game. Cried. More than I should. Ate super good cheap sushi and enjoyed the company of new friends and old family. Packed up and turned a 6 hour trip into an 8 hour trip on our way back home. Hit the stores for some after Christmas sales and finally used some wedding gift cards (2 years later). Collapsed with content exhaustion.
How was your holiday break? Hopefully you feel refreshed and ready for 2010 – it’s going to be a good year, folks!

Love the backspace, backspace tweet! Happens every year.
So jealous of your new lens! And how did you shoot those sparkler pictures? Totally awesome!
@sarah: hey, thanks for stopping by the blog! for the sparkler pictures, I just put my shuttter speed to suuuuper slow (think 10-20 seconds) and held it very still while my sister in law did all the work. it was so fun!
love, Love, LOVE the sparkler pictures! I have been wanting to try those out for ages. Maybe this July 4th I will get a chance! Just posted on my blog a few quick pics taken with the new F1.8 50mm lens – I havent had much time to try it out yet, but it seems really awesome!
