Katie and Steven are some friends of friends that approached me to take some engagement pictures for them. I happily obliged, but only on the stipulation that they consider this a wedding gift and don’t pay me a dime. It’s so difficult to try to be creative, pose people, figure out the light and make people feel comfortable, all while capturing a good picture. This, my friends, is why I don’t charge a dime. I leave the real photography to the pros!
We’ve been hanging out with Katie and Steven more lately (thanks to our weekly happy hours at a local brewery) and I can’t say enough about them. They are such genuine, sweet, southern people and they are definitely easy to photograph (you’ll see what I mean below). I thank them for putting up with my attempts at some different poses and my constant utterance of “oh, that’s actually a cute one”. I swear, I was shocked at how I managed to get everything to come together in my camera, not shocked at how you two could look good!
They met through a service organization at UNC, so I figured the Carolina blue backdrop was pretty appropriate. :)
I love this image so much, but I can’t decide if I like the black and white or the color option better – so I’m posting both! And those blue eyes are straight out of camera, people. Jealous?
Laughing pictures are my favorite, by far. Congratulations you two and thanks for being my guinea pigs one afternoon! Any tips/constructive criticism from my pro photographer readers?

Cute couple and great pics! Wish I could do that.
I like the black and white.
These are really good! I like 1, 2 & 5 a lot. Your first engagement photos that you did were good, but these are even better. Nice job :)
