Am I crazy for loving this rug? And am I insane for thinking that the $450 price tag is a down right steal?
This beauty was a floor model in Crate and Barrel the other day that was marked down considerably from its original price. I spotted it underneath some other rugs and said something along the lines of “oh my god i have to have that it’s wool and on sale i think i might die let’s bring it home today”. But, I resisted. I was a good little girl and realized that you should never jump into a big purchase like this after a 20 second look. I’m not even sure that the rug is still in the store, but what do you think? I think I might be crazy, but I need some reassurance (or someone to convince me I’m not).

It kills me how expensive rugs are, and that somehow $450 seems like a steal. Personally, I think C&B is overpriced, especially when it comes to furniture and such.
My advice, wait a week. If you still can’t get it out of your head, go for it. In the meantime keep your eye out for something similar for cheaper. If it’s meant to be, your rug will still be there when you decide :)
Love the rug, not the price! $450 is way too expensive for a rug, in my opinion – even if it is Crate & Barrel. But that’s just me!
I think the rug is nice but the money could be better spent on something else. Say perhaps a Blu-Ray player!
You can’t take that into the backyard and hose it off, so I say no!
That is a pretty steep price but it is also awesome. I will tell you what I have learned from YHL, if you have the money and you still love it, you should go for it. However, if you feel like once you buy it, you are going to need to cover it in plastic to preserve it a la grandmother style, you might want to pass.
Oh I love it! What is the size? Compare prices with other wool rugs at that price and size–why am I telling you this? you know what to do! Wool rugs can shed, which can be a housekeeping problem. Something to think about unless you like to vacuum.

We paid 4X that much for a rug that I no longer love, years ago. Still have it and use it, but I’d say it was a mistake. This one is more neutral, however, and I can see why you love it.
… I don’t think you want to know how much we almost spent on a rug in India … I say it’s a splurge.

Thanks everyone for your feedback! @britt: nooo, I decided not to get it b/c of the price tag (and because we just got back from a pricey vacation to alaska). and since it’s a floor model, I think it might be final sale – though not sure on that. if it happens to be there in another month and i just happen upon it, who knows what will happen!
