Some friends of ours just put an offer on a house in our neighborhood. It’s a super cute home that’s been on the market for some time now and it’s in need of someone to love it to bits. Kinda like we love our home.
Ahh, the abode. When we first found our house, the realtor so lovingly referred to it as “a cream puff of a house”. To this day I’m not quite sure why he chose those words as a selling slogan, but it must have worked for us. We’ve spent a lot of time on the interior of our cream puff, but all this talk about houses recently has got me thinking about the exterior of our house. It’s definitely not my area of expertise (I am an interior designer, after all) but I think we could do a few things to spruce it up the place. Assuming we’re living in a perfect world, where I’m 5′-9″ and we have a bazillion dollars, should we add a little porch action to fancy up our facade?
It would definitely give us some shelter from the rain, plus add some dimension to our lovely little rectangle. Or, possibly we should use our green thumbs (hey, this is a perfect world right? I should be able to keep some foliage alive in my perfect world) and create some awe inspiring landscaping?
We tried to plant a dogwood tree in our back yard, but one afternoon, Charlie ate it. Yes, he ate the tree. He spared the trunk, but every single leaf and branch was gnawed down to a stub in the matter of minutes. The trunk is still standing proud in our backyard, clinging on for any hope of revival this spring. Maybe landscaping isn’t the way to go for this household. Perhaps a change in color is the ticket we’re looking for?
I always preach about the saving powers of paint in an otherwise dilapidated room – should we pull out the paint decks and paint the biggest canvas yet? Any ideas for some rockin’ curb appeal for this artful abode?
